Comandante Guillermo
Gonzalez Calderoni: Mexican federal police commander
who hunted Pablo Acosta down, Calderoni trapped and killed Acosta in a
small adobe village overlooking the Rio Grande. His attempts to capture
Acosta over a period of five months were unsuccessful until, working with
the FBI, he was able to launch a raid on Acosta's village after flying
his assault team in helicopters through the United States with an FBI escort.
Calderoni later defected to the United States, and provided the FBI with
intelligence about corruption within the Mexican government. The
most important of these revelations had to do with protection money flowing
to the Mexican president's brother, and of plan of the president's brother
to purchase an entire port on the Gulf of Mexico in collusion with a powerful
trafficker from the region in order to facilitate drug smuggling.
